Join the National Association for the Advancement of Private Education in Ghana

The Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) is the recognized umbrella body for pre-tertiary private educational institutions in Ghana.
Guided by its Democratic Constitution, GNAPS represents, supports, and strengthens the private education sector through advocacy, professional development, and partnership.

By joining GNAPS, you become part of a united voice working to uphold the welfare of the child, quality education, and excellence in private schooling.

👤 Eligibility for Membership

Membership is open to private educational institutions and individuals operating within Ghana’s pre-tertiary sector who comply with national education standards and the Education Regulatory Bodies Act.

🟦 Categories of Membership (Article 3 §1)

1. Educational Institutions – Registered private schools at all levels duly recognized by the appropriate regulatory bodies.
2. Owners / Proprietors – Individuals who legally own or manage private educational institutions.
3. Leaders – Persons holding executive or managerial positions within member institutions.
4. Workers – Teachers, administrators, and support staff employed in member institutions.
5. Honorary / Conferred Members – Distinguished individuals granted honorary membership by the National Council for exceptional contributions to education or GNAPS.

🧾 Rights of Members (Article 3 §5)

Members in good standing have the right to:

• Vote and be voted for in accordance with the GNAPS Democratic Constitution (except honorary members).
• Participate in GNAPS programs, meetings, and decision-making processes.
• Access GNAPS services, resources, and benefits.
• Seek redress and fair hearing in matters affecting their membership.

📘 Obligations of Members (Article 3 §6)

All members shall:

• Uphold the GNAPS Constitution, policies, and Code of Conduct.
• Keep membership registration current.
• Pay all dues, levies, and approved charges.
• Participate actively in meetings, programs, and activities.
• Promote the image, vision, and interests of GNAPS.
• Honour any sanctions duly imposed under the Constitution.

🛑 Suspension or Expulsion (Article 3 §8)

Membership may be suspended or revoked for:

• Non-payment of dues or levies.
• Gross misconduct or violation of GNAPS rules or ethics.
• Acts bringing GNAPS or private education into disrepute.

All disciplinary actions follow due process — written notice, opportunity to respond, and fair hearing before the National Council.
Members may appeal to the GNAPS Appeals Committee within 14 working days (Article 3 §9).

📋 Application & Registration (Article 3 §3 – §4)

Step 1: Complete the GNAPS Membership Application Form (hard copy or e-form).
Step 2: Attach required documentation, including proof of registration with the Registrar-General and relevant education regulatory bodies.
Step 3: The GNAPS Secretariat will vet and recommend applications for approval.
Step 4: Approved members receive a Certificate of Membership signed by the National President and General Secretary.

Membership is renewable annually upon payment of dues and submission of updated documentation.
